National Grid’s contractor for the Recovery Well Installation/Development Project continued field work at the Site as part of the National Grid Rockaway Park Former MGP Site (Site) On-site Remediation Program. Attached is a photograph of the Site recovery well installation activities.
The contractor continued the operation of the community air monitoring program (CAMP) to the address the current work on the Site. In accordance with Section 4.0 of the CAMP work plan and the New York State Department of Health guidelines, tripod-mounted portable air monitoring stations were deployed during the performance of the installation of the recovery wells. The tripod-mounted portable air monitoring stations were situated upwind and downwind of the daily drilling locations. There were no exceedances of the CAMP limits related to the installation of the recovery wells.
For the week of August 6, 2012 through August 10, 2012, the Contractor is scheduled to continue the Recovery Well Installation/Development Project. Dust and odor suppression activities will be conducted, as necessary. The contractor will perform general maintenance activities and housekeeping activities in conjunction with the well-installation operations at the Site, as necessary. In addition, during August 2012 the National Grid Project Team will continue to prepare the Construction Completion Report (CCR) to document the completion of the on-site remedial actions.
