Site capping nears completion

National Grid’s contractor and Project Team completed the construction of the composite 120-foot deep dense non-aqueous phase liquid (DNAPL) Migration Barrier Wall (i.e., jet grouted barrier) in April 2012. On July 3, 2012 the Waste Management (WM) contractor completed the process of decommissioning and demobilization of construction equipment, supplies and materials associated with the on-site waste management operation. Further, the WM Contractor completed the final grading and Site-Wide Cap sub-grade preparation operations along the north central part of the Site. Attached is a photograph of the Site-Wide Cap construction activities and the overall Site.

The community air monitoring program (CAMP) equipment ceased operation as planned on Sunday, July 1, 2012 and was decommissioned and then demobilized from the Site on Tuesday, July 3, 2012.

For the July, 2012, the National Grid Project Team will continue to prepare the Construction Completion Report (CCR) for the completed on-site remedial actions.
